Overcome Small Business Failure and Thrive

Overcome Small Business Failure and Thrive

October 13, 20224 min read

There are a lot of small businesses out there that are struggling right now. COVID has had a significant impact on the economy, and it can seem like things are only going to get worse from here. But don’t worry, there is still hope! There are a few small businesses out there that are thriving, even in this challenging environment.

So what makes the difference?

Is it their industry? No, companies in all industries are failing and succeeding.

Is it their resources? No, small and large businesses are failing and thriving.

So what is it? I say it’s a combination of two things. We’ll unearth these together right after this.

In this video, we will explore:

-How to overcome small business failure

-What is the difference between businesses that are thriving and those that are struggling

-How do you ensure that your business thrives

Before we get started, let me introduce myself. My name is Doug Barra, and I have had the honor and privilege of coaching the owners of small, local businesses for over 16 years. In that time, I have come to realize that as an owner of a small, local business, you are one of the most courageous people on the planet.

And, I know it doesn’t always feel that way, and remember, courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is having fear and acting anyway. Every day, you put yourself, your family, and even your life savings on the line to make your business great, and if you are anything like my clients and me, sometimes you struggle to make it all work out.

And, even worse, who can you talk to about it?

Your employees? Not if you want them to have confidence in you and the business.

Your family? Probably not.

Where can you go, talk about the things that worry you, and get ideas?

Well, this brings me to the topic of this video, which is: How to overcome small business failure and thrive?

As I mentioned earlier, businesses in all industries are failing and thriving, so it’s not about the industry you are in. And businesses of all sizes are failing and thriving, so it’s not about how many resources you have.

So what is it? I say two things make the difference: mindset and belonging.

The thriving businesses have owners with the mindset that they will overcome all obstacles and are willing to do whatever it takes.

They also create a sense of belonging, providing custom services tailored to members. On the other hand, struggling businesses often have owners who believe that failure is inevitable or think they don’t have what it takes to succeed. They also tend to be isolated, without a community or network to support them, And, their businesses don’t create that sense of belonging for their customers. So, how can you overcome small business failure and thrive?

The first step is to change your mindset. You have to believe you can overcome all obstacles and be willing to do whatever it takes. But how do you do that? Well, it starts with understanding that mindset is a choice. So every day, you get to choose how you will think about your business and your life. And the better you get at making that choice, the more successful you will be.

The second step is to create a sense of belonging for your customers. Provide custom services tailored to their needs and build a relationship with them. When you do that, they will become loyal customers willing to support you through thick and thin.

So those are two steps that you can take to overcome small business failure and thrive: change your mindset and create a sense of belonging for your customers.
