Simple (Yet Effective!) Ways Small Business Can Compete with the Big Brands
It can feel impossible to compete with the big brands, but it’s not true! Small businesses have a lot of advantages over their larger counterparts. Even though small businesses are at a disadvantage when it comes to resources, they can make up for it with clever marketing and superior customer service. Small businesses can thrive in today’s competitive market with ingenuity and hard work.
Let’s discover how small businesses can compete with the big brands together in today's episode of BusinessSUCCESS®!
You may think that small businesses can’t compete with big brands, but that’s not true. In this video, I will show you how small businesses can thrive in today’s competitive market by utilizing local marketing strategies and focusing on customer service.
First if you don’t know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Doug Barra, and I am committed to the success of small local businesses like yours. For the last 16 years, I have had the honor and privilege to work with some of the most courageous people in the world, owners of small, local businesses like you. You are at the heart and soul of the American economy. You create jobs, you fuel innovation. And you are the hope for a better tomorrow in the eyes of your employees, their families, and your community.
On the other hand, the big brands have lost touch with what it means to be a small business owner in America. They have become so large and bureaucratic that they have forgotten how to serve their customers and communities the way you do every day.
So how can small businesses compete with big brands?
Even though small businesses have a lot of advantages over their larger counterparts, they still face some challenges when trying to compete with big brands.
One of the biggest challenges is that they don’t have the same financial resources as the big brands, so they have to be more creative in how they market themselves. They also have to focus on delivering superior customer service, which can be difficult when competing with a large company with more resources.
Another challenge is Reach. Big brands have a much larger reach than small businesses, so it can be difficult for small businesses to get their message out to potential customers. The good news is that you can overcome this by utilizing local marketing strategies, which I will discuss later in this video.
Lastly, small businesses often face an uphill battle regarding public perception. Big brands have a lot of name recognition, so automatically, people tend to think they are better. However, you can overcome this by emphasizing the advantages that small businesses have over big brands, such as being more focused on customer service and being more engaged with the local community.
So how can small businesses overcome these challenges?
The best way to overcome the challenges of small businesses competing with big brands is through local marketing and superior customer service. Local marketing helps small businesses target a specific area or region, giving them an edge over big brands trying to reach a larger audience. Today, this can be done very effectively through online marketing tools like Google AdWords and Facebook ads.
Making sure your ads target your local area is critical because you want to ensure that your potential customers see your ads.
You also want to ensure you optimize your website and social media pages for local search and that they are not just glorified business cards but have a compelling call to action.
Another way to stand out from big brands is by delivering superior customer service. You can do this by ensuring that every customer interaction is positive, whether in person, on the phone or online. You also want to go above and beyond for your customers whenever possible. This could include offering additional services, providing upgrades, or even getting to know them personally.
This level of customer service can be the deciding factor for many people when choosing between a small business and a big brand.
So there you have it! These are just some ways small businesses can compete with big brands.
Remember, if you focus on local marketing and superior customer service, you’ll be well on your way to success!
